Is Dove Chocolate Halal? (List Added)

If you are fond of Chocolate, you have for sure came across Dove Chocolate and wanted to try it, but always wondered if Dove Chocolate is Halal or not! It’s not just you, I too had similar query. While searching for the same I was surprised to see no clear statement available on the web around it.

So I myself contacted Dove Chocolate directly and also checked around the major ingredients to find whether it is halal or not.

Thou the ingredients pretty much say the whole story, still just to be extra careful, I contact Dove Chocolate to find out exactly what products of dove chocolate received the halal status.

It took them a few weeks to respond back, that two after a few follow-ups, but it was worth the wait as they replied thoroughly to my query listing down all the DOVE chocolates that are certified as Halal by the Islamic Services of America.

Dove Chocolate Ingredients

To be extra sure, we looked into the complete list of ingredients that are found in Dove Chocolate.

Sugar

Sugar is a must for major chocolates no matter which brand you turn towards. And it is totally allowed for consumption as per Islam.

Chocolate Processed with Alkali

Alkali is used mainly to reduce the acidity level of cocoa and doesn’t contain any animal fat. It is not very healthy but yes it is halal. (source)

Cocoa Butter

Cocoa butter is derived from plant sources and doesn’t contain any animal product in its purest form. Thus it is permissible for Muslims to eat.

Milkfat

Also known as Butterfat, is derived from milk and is generally considered halal for consumption by Muslims.

Soy Lecithin

Soy Lecithin, as the name suggests, it is derived from Soya, which is a vegetable source and thus it is halal. (source)

It is basically derived from sugar which is again permissible in Islam, but it also depends if any gelatin is used in the making. But here in the context of Dove Chocolate, it is halal as the list of halal chocolates the official replied to us with, among those many contain caramel.
